Ecuador La Josefina
La Josefina Estate was established in 2014 by Leopoldo Andrade Barragan. It was a friend that encouraged Leopoldo to begin working with coffee, and in 2020, he produced his very first commercial crop. The farm is 35 hectares total with 20 hectares being utilized for coffee. In Napo, the humidity level is too high for growing coffee under shade, however, Leopoldo has made a point to protect the native trees on the farm where he grows Pacamara, Pacas, Typica, Caturra, Bourbon Tekisic, Pink Bourbon, Sidra, Sudan Rume, and Typica Mejorado. We are thrilled to be offering coffee from La Josefina this season, and have chosen the Typica Mejorado as one of our special offerings.
This varietal is on another level than your basic typica. It boasts delicate, almost gesha-like florals, and tons of sweetness and body. Think everything you would expect from a clean Ecuadoran coffee mingled with a washed Ethiopian and you get the idea.
